Safety

SiliChew necklaces are adult-worn accessories for directly supervised feeding, bonding and busy-hand moments. They are not baby jewelry. Never place a necklace, cord or loop around a baby or child's neck.

The non-negotiable rules

  1. Adult-worn only: the parent or caregiver wears and controls the necklace.
  2. Direct supervision: remain awake, attentive and within immediate reach throughout use.
  3. No sleep or unattended use: remove it before naps, bedtime or whenever adult attention moves elsewhere.
  4. No restricted settings: do not use or leave it in a crib, cot, playpen, stroller, car seat or baby carrier.
  5. Inspect every time: check the beads, cord, knots and clasp before use.

Before each use

Use clean hands and examine the entire product under good light. Gently check for loose parts, cracks, tears, deep tooth marks, stretching, exposed cord, changes in texture, stickiness or a clasp that no longer works as intended. If anything looks different or damaged, stop using the product and discard it. Do not glue, restring or repair it at home.

During use

  • The necklace remains on the adult.
  • The adult keeps the child in view and can intervene immediately.
  • Stop if the cord becomes wrapped, the child pulls forcefully, the item interferes with breathing or feeding, or either person becomes uncomfortable.
  • If the exact product instructions permit mouthing, allow it only during this controlled interaction.

Cleaning, drying and storage

Hand-wash before first use and after mouthing with warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly. Air-dry completely, including around holes, knots and the clasp, then store in a clean, dry container out of children's reach.

Do not boil, steam, microwave, freeze or use a dishwasher unless the instructions supplied with the exact item explicitly allow it. Different cords and clasps can have different temperature and cleaning limits.

What SiliChew does not claim

A SiliChew nursing necklace is not a medical device or treatment. We do not claim that it treats pain, shortens teething, reduces drooling, improves sleep, changes development or provides therapy. Fever, diarrhoea, marked lethargy, persistent distress or other worrying symptoms should not automatically be attributed to teething; seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
